The Donkey….

There is an anecdote in Sufism that always makes me laugh, its goes a little something like this:  I don’t remember it in a way that does any justice to it but I will quote Idries Shah using it in his book the Commanding self:

 

‘If you had come to this house on a donkey, which brought you here, you would not have been allowed to ride it into my study. It fulfills its functions and then other functions take over.’

 

A few of you have asked me what has brought me to the current path that I am on and I figure I would indulge the questions since thinking about it on the ride to work has brought a lot of things to mind. So I will start a series of posts where I will share few personal events along the way that brought me to where I am currently. There will be called the Donkey that Brought me here : person experiences.
