This prayer, ifone is believe in the ancient tradition that follows it, had been found in the  sepulchre of Our Lord himself, Jesus-Christ,  and was send inthe year 802 by the Pope Leon III to , when he left with his army to fight his ennemis. The prayer was written on a parchment with gold letters, and for a longtime was preciously preserved in the abbey of St Michel of France. Maybe it [ the original manuscript] might be found once again.

Who ever reads this prayer, or hears it read or , carries it on their person, will not die suddenly, will not drown, will not be be burned; no venom will empoison them,  this person will not fall into the hands of their enemies, and he will not be vainqued by them [his enemies] in battle.

When a women finds herself in labor pains, if she reads this prayer or hearis prayer read to her, or she carries it on her person, she will quickly find herself delivered and she will be always a loving mother.

As soon as this infant is born put this prayer oin his right side and he will eb saved from a lot of bad things in life.

Whoever carries this prayer on him, will not be drawn to epilepsy.  If one, in their travels encounters someone suffering from this affliction put this prayer on their right side and they will be joyfully relieved.

This prayer put in a house [hingon a wall etc] will prevent the house form being struck by lightning.

Anyone who reads this prayer or is made to readit to other everyday will be warned by a sign three days before they die.

However writes this prayer for themselves or for other <<  I will blss him>> says the Lord. Who ever mocks or scorns this person will be punished.

Hello Guys,

                         Based on my previous posts about being a hater I got some interesting feedback. The feedback can be grouped into two categorie.

1. Thats crazy son, you mad wrong- you a hater ( which coinidentally was the name of the post)
2. Thats interesting there is some funny stuff there and some serious stuff what are you saying
3. Yeah man I feel you.

It is to those who gave me feedback of type 2 and type 3, that I address this post.

Satire is Defined as :A manner of writing that mixes a critical attitude with wit and humor in an effort to improve mankind and human institutions. Ridicule, irony, exaggeration, and several other techniques are almost always present. …

I am always happy to see successful people especially people  I can identify with. Growing up during the time I did and living the places where I have lived, and being broke since  1981, the year I was born, i.e. my parents were broke, really make me appreciate and value everyones success whether it comes from the rap game the NFL etc.

I feel though that when you ascertain a certain level of success you are more accountable for your actions, because your success and fame have brought you to an international stage. Minorities are judged all the time, by people who never bother to know anything about us, but look to newpaper articles and centuries old biases to assemble a picture of us. We are not taken seriously, by we I mean here Black and latinos, these are the only minority groups I know and have experience with.

Every day I hear somewhere that we are always using the race card to do nothing, that we are all on welfare, that affirmative action is destroying the nation, that black countries were better off with white rulers because at least then they could eat and not kill each other. One reporter  who was doing his part to help his fellow man described being born in Haiti as bad luck? Does any see the assumptions behind these type of statements, and the assumptions behind these assumption?

With that said, when the ODB pulled up to get his welfare check in a limo  it was funny, but what did that do for our image? When your understand of helping out the community is to donate turkeys at thanksgiving, what does it solve? No one is left empowered or better able to cope with a lot of stuff. Lets say every multimillionaire black or hispanic athelete, rap star, rap mogul, whatever, donated 10% of their years salary and set up a college fund, to enable us to go to school, with suffering the indignation of cleaning toilets, or driving a taxi late at night, or sipping a single  coffee for 4 hours at a starbucks so we cna have a place to study.

Your actions have huge ramifications  on our image and how we are perceived. Do you know what I had the privilege of hearing two people say after seeing the latest diddy antic on tv ” Give them some money and they all do the same thing, they buy cars, and squander it on jewelry, a car for every day”.

Flaunting wealth, pretending to be a gansta, and making half way decent music doesnt help anyone at the end of the day, except yourself. What bothers me is that the life of a gangsta is glorified. The same gangsta these rappers based themselves on are the same that targeted the poor neighborhood of black and latino communities to sell their drugs while they themselves many times didnt consume them believing at heart that we werent people.

All the black people who were lynched or who died so that you can make that crazy paper, sitt on chrome, as a celebrity what have you done to honor that sacrifice? Are you blind as well to the many sacrifices many of us are making now to be able to empower the next generation?

I dont consider myself judgemental, because i dont see myself different in any way, we are all human beings, after a bit of uhappy times whos doesnt want to go out and party and drink and make merry? There is nothing wrong in it. However imaging that this is an end in itself, and that living it up and pretending to be the king of your little kingdom, and forgetting your responsibilities to everyone else, is reprehensible whether or not we are rich or famous or not.

If through joke I remind you that you are mortal like all of us and you have have just as much if not more responsibilities to all humanity, especially those of your own race who are suffering, then I am considered judgemental or a hater. Than so be it

I like irony plain and simple, and life is full of irony. Fat Joe released an album called elephant in the room and looking at the record sales it was treated that way. Don’t get me wrong I am down with the terror squad DJ Khalid. I loved Lean back and What’s Luv and how fat Joe is really from Philly and lives in Jersey but always reps the Bronx.- BX!!!!! What I miss is formula hip hop. Make a hot track in may have it ready in time for the PR day parade, then make appearances on hot 97.1.  This has worked for Fat Joe and Nelly, hopefully it may work for the both of them again. Lemme see yo’ grillz guys, it contrasts brilliantly with the egg on yo face, WHATS LOVE GOT TO DO WITH RECORD SALES, APPARENTLY NOT MUCH!!!!!!

I don’t associate myself with people who celebrate being ghetto without knowing the social and political ramifications of their acts. Notice how everyone who makes it out the ghetto cashes in on their experiences and leaves. They buy combs, brush their hair, get a suit try to raise a family with kids out of wedlock. Do you really think when rappers live in a mansion and laugh all the way to the bank they care about the block, no but they want people in the block to buy their vitamin water, their clothing line, their perfume, etc . DJ KHALED – WE DA BEST—- AT WHAT KILLING POPEYES?

You might as well be illiterate if you read the following books. Langston Hughes is turning in his graves and the poet laureate Maya Angelou isn’t rising high anymore because of you. Catering to ignorance is not an option even if it allows you to make money

Diddy , complaining about bumps on your face and why you use proactive and also yelling the same shit out in every video doesn’t mean your hot any more in the streets. Yeah you are a bad boy for life. Yeah you were public enemy number one. ……As we proceed….not to buy your stuff anymore.

It has been amazing to watch how your ego has swelled to cosmic proportions, but as long as you look fly and continue to flaunt your wealth without ever addressing the issues of the African American community, it’s awesome. You’re still a good guy in my book. You use Paris Hilton, a pillar of light, to get people my age to vote; you have clothing line and still think hip hop is alive. You get an A for effort. When you wake up and realize the dream is over give me a call.

I love your book club it makes some good books affordable, but having mobs of mindless people going out to buy book because you put your disgusting stamp on it is unacceptable. In my mind there is a difference between discovering literature on your own and having the door open to beautiful insight about life and commanding your minions of mindless people to read certain books. That doesn’t make people discover a living literature. An automaton reading is just as good as a monkey running a nation, at this point we can only deal with one of those at a time.

If you add Escobar to you stage name you aren’t more hip or gangsta. If you want to have beef and beef records at least get shot over it, not special on NTV or BET with SWAY talking about how beef is good for rap. Love hip hop so much, Die for your cause don’t hide behind security. College hill on BET is the worst show every made.  Giving ti to use in dosages doesn’t/ didn’t help, making a sandwich of it by showing the parkers before and after doesn’t help, ot make it more palatable it makes it worse. Someone needs to give bet a wake up call. Its good to entertain black but not by using the lowest common denominator, sex money drugs, booty butt cheeks, stop with the excessive playing of Chris brown videos, he cannot run it let alone read!!!!

Racism In America Fact, Myth, or Fiction? (1), Barack Obama, and why I am a hater!!!

Hello Guys,

                             I have heard a lot of things in my day about racism.  Lately I have heard a lot of things and someone was, for reasons unknown, intrigued enough to ask what I felt on it, and so here it is.

When I was a freshman in HS my favorite english teacher told me separately that racism still exists, its not as overt as it used to be in the past its a lot more covert. My teacher was an Italian American for those of you wondering or asking. I am one of the few people who subscribe to the notion that having Barack Obama run means things are in some ways better than they where a 100 years ago, but can they be improved certainly yes.

I have noticed a few alarming trends the last couple of years:

1. Bathroom stall, forums online, and all places where people can avoid direct contact withthe people they want to  abuse want to talk about are filled with racial slurs and such.
2. If I were to talk about slavery  or how there is racism , I would get accused of using the race card nad because I am black talkign about black problems what I saywill be taken with a grain of salt because it is assumed that I cant be objective, that I can play basketball well, and I am using the race card like a fiddle singing you a great story symphony of the suffering of my family people and or race
3. Man people say that slavery is over since  the 1800’s and we have as a race in america dont nothing since then and we need to get jobs, learn to read and swim ( somehtign supposedly many of us are not able to do). Supposedly we keep blaming the white people for all our problems, Phil of today has nothing to do with slavery of a a few generations ago or the lynch mobs of the 60’s, so he doesnt want to hear about it

Interesting to say the least I would think.I dont think that a country is like a cold heartted gf. It can’t go from lynching a group of people in the 60’s to treating them equally 40 years later. Have you been to Detroit? I think Hurricane katrina was an indication to me that though racism maynot be so obvious and out there as it used to be its around.

Sometimes I wonder is there a possibility that there are some laws or economic practices that keep a certain divides in place?  There is a lot of grey areas as to the interpretation and enforcement of laws. What are the far reaching consequences of a lot of our domestic and foreign economic policies. Will you be willing to look into it?

If you think that after Martin Luther king died, and we got our holiday and month, american open its arms to black people all minorities, and that all is right with this country, If you think there is no such thing as  police brutality or racial profiling, if you  think that the Reverand Jesse Jackson who lives off the fat of the land, or that Al Sharpton an supposed former CIA informer or that Louis Farakhan truly represent black people, if you think that 12 % of the population pose such a serious threat to you? if you think that 12 % of the population living in at most 10 states [ About three-fifths of all people who reported Black lived in ten states. The ten states with the largest Black populations in 2000 were New York, California, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, North Carolina, Maryland, Michigan, and Louisiana] contribute to msot of this Countries crime and unemployment and social ills if you think that all black people  are either in sports or dancing or entertainment,or dont go to school, if you think thatif barakc obama were to get elected black people everywhere will rejoice and  there will be peace, If you think that there is no connection between inner city guns in the 70-80’s and Oliver North’s using drugs moneyto do cool stuff, if youthink American foreign policy has claimed no innocent lives…. then maybe you are right?

Maybe all black people are unemployed, maybe aside from sports and entertainment  we contribute nothing to the us, maybe rich men who grab their ankles for a check < most black politicians> really do represent us, maybe since amongst some black people call each other nigga it is permissible, like some island people still call each other negre, then its fair to call us porch monkey, coon, eggplant, maybe it makes it more acceptible to ask me first “dave can I tell a black joke” before u tell it, because its all gravy…… There is no racial tension down south, black or hispanic people are get turned down for a job

Its all gravy isnt it? Its all in our heads, well it must be, because judging from everyones actions and the way everything stops when I walk into certain places,or the wonderful treatment I got at a Dairy Queen in denver is all in my head, how some still refer to blacks as those people.

I hope you forgive me for bringing this up, its late and I must be dreaming?

Last night I did not go out after dinner. To try to understand these things, I reread the last lesson that Plato put in his teacher’s mouth. I read that the soul can flee when the flesh dies.
And now I am not sure whether the truth lies in the ominous later interpretation or in the innocent farewell.
Because if the soul doesn’t die, we are right to lay no stress on our good-byes.

To say goodbye is to deny separation; it is to say Today we play at going our own ways, but we’ll see each other tomorrow. Men invented farewells because they somehow knew themselves as contingent and ephemeral.

One day we will pick up this uncertain conversation again, Delia—on the bank of what river?—and we will ask ourselves whether we were once, in a city that vanished into the plains, Borges and Delia.

La Negresse by Stephane Mallarme (Stage 1) – Work in progess!!!

Many years ago I asked my father to translate this poem for me many years ago, and he was a bit hesitant. I started  translating it I am at stage one  where I have built a bases from which to further work magic. Enjoy this work in progress.

Here it is:

La Négresse

Une négresse par le démon secouée
Veut goûter une enfant triste de fruits nouveaux
Et criminels aussi sous leur robe trouvée,
Cette goinfre s’apprête à de rusés travaux ;

À son ventre compare heureuse deux tétines
Et, si haut que la main ne le saura saisir,
Elle darde le choc obscur de ses bottines
Ainsi que quelque langue inhabile au plaisir.

Contre la nudité peureuse de gazelle
Qui tremble, sur le dos tel un fol éléphant

My thoughts on Prayer (1) – as a Potentially heretical Christian

Before I talk about Prayer

Some of you want to know why I call myself a heretical Christian, and of course I have to oblige my audience here are some of my main reasons why  I consider myself a heretic

Reason 1

I like to mention when I get accosted in the subway  being told that Catholics/Christian are cool and  want me to love Jesus like he loves me that Catholic Priests sodomize kids but condemn homosexuality, the church both catholic and non denominational all have a history of abuse that people avoid talking about

Reason 2

I like to be presented with all the information and then decide what to believe instead of being given only thins which support the status quo and told that I must rely on belief and what a man who has his rent paid for and no wife and no kids says about how to life my life.

Reason3

Pastors own Mercedes and expensive homes, while the congregation suffers to eat.

Reason 4

Jesus being so important to so many, can’t just disappear off the face of the earth for a bunch of years and magically reappear. During this time there is some evidence to say that Jesus traveled to many of the spiritual centers of the world and learned under the great masters, and then came back to the Occident with a religion or a set of practices and ideology that includes: Reincarnation, Karma, and many other mystical teachings

Reason 5

These mystical teachings where kept among the inner disciple and the crowds were given parables.

And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. Reason 6

I feel that religion is a social and communal experience. It is a means not an ends, but eventually for those of us that want to further our experience  with go  we have to go beyond what’s known, go fasting in the desert of ruin that lies between who we and other imagine us to be and who we really are to experience God directly without intermediates. In order to do this we have to lessen the control of our desires and expectations and conditioning (this is what the Sufis called the Commanding Self). The spark of the creator is in all of us, if we look within. What does that mean, it’s a platitude.

2.      What is the spark of the creator? Why is the image of a spark used? Can you recognize the Creator’s handiwork?

                          I just wanted to give you 2 events that have transpired not to long ago. I was bored at home and decided to watch the Comedy Central Roast of Pamela Anderson. As you can imagine talk immediate went to Pamela great intellectual and academic acheivements, the video tape she and then husband Tommy Lee (does he have a last name) produced that happened to be owned by everyone in ym all boys high shcool , everyone except me. One comedian provided an interesting commentary on the tape and he said

 

I watched the tape recently and I havent seen a pussy take a beating like that since Rubben Studdard beat Caly Aiken to become your american Idol.

 

Funny stuff right, maybe. I laughed for sure. However the reality of the matter is that like at school being a man and real effeminate got you teased and heckled at school especially during the 70-80’s, when being gay wasn’t cool. Well it got you beat up and robbed and abused etc. Unless in ancient Greece, or a pirate, or a sailor in the Queen’s royal navy, being gay openly has never been cool.

Religious persons are the worse. They will talk of equality and how great and majestic all of his creation is. Somehow in their minds this same perfect god someone how managed to momentarily err and make gays pigs (why are pork products shunned are pigs really so unclean that you can’t have bacon you’re your McGriddle) If you look at it through history gays had the image of being this evil work of the devil, they will seduce and corrupt your kids. That’s pederasty not homosexuality.

There have been many famous writers, politicians; you name it of past and present that were gay. Everyone has at least 1 gay relative if you go back enough, an Uncle who everyone referred to as your aunt, and who was never let to baby sit you alone, or a female cousin that looks and dresses like Horatio Sans etc.

We hate things we can’t understand, to the point that we will kill them and hurt them and destroy them from fear that we may be consumed by them.

My wife has a gay friend he is one of the coolest people I have met in my life, why do we hate? I say let gays get married legally, as a culture with all these games shows about marriage, we can’t really take marriage to be so sacred, do we.

Can anyone tell me what we so afraid of are. Maybe it’s because I live in NY City, and I see this every day. Everyone granted has different degrees of comfort around gay people, if I was on bus full of flamboyantly gay people or the contestants of the current or new season of project runway (Can someone tell me what the fuck is chiffon!!?!?!!??!?!) I would feel uncomfortable, initially. But then so what?  It’s like when I was the only black kid in a classroom. I felt uncomfortable initially but then all was good. I didn’t wear Birkenstocks, docker shorts, or put mayo on my sammiches , nor did i watch Dawson’s creek < these are some of the many myths i have heard about white people>

So this is my post to say leave Clay Aiken alone yes his like name sounds like aching so what,  he is a performer, esp to those two idiots making fun of him while I was buying my code red mountain dew. A real man doesn’t have to put someone down to be a real man.

You know what really grinds my Gears? – Why some European tourist piss me off!!! (1)

Hello Everyone,

I was in Manhattan this weekend and had the chance to meet some European tourist. I remember how for ages Americans were vilified for being the worst tourists on earth everywhere  showing off their affluence and having no respect for whose ever culture they  tr ode through.  I partially (10%) agreed partially.  Like my friend from the land of eagles says there are always a few pigs that ruin it for the rest of us.

It seems I have met many European pigs as of late, who when I speak English tell me ” You cant be American, where were you born ?” Now that the dreams of de gaulle and Adenauer have partially come through with the Euro growing. I have seen a flood of not only European investment in NY which is fine, however along with the investment comes centuries old prejudice, and history of exploitation  which manifest itself in the behaviors I have seen unleashed.

It seem the same things American tourist were so hated for the Europeans have become experts at, and because I can speak French and like to keep abreast of current events, these tourist forget I am 100%  Mad cow crazy American, grants I am first generation American, I love this country and I see its potential. American like Western Europe, like democracy is a great idea, I am still waiting to see America taken to the next level and I am doing my parent by educating myself, volunteering to help make it happen  on ym own part. I am Haitian I don’t believe politicians for a minute, like most 80s movies they are like the cops who come in after everything is over to do the obvious. I sometimes feel that if voting actually did something it would be illegal here in America. Sorry I am hit with some pessimism  every now and then.

I met a dutch couple who needed to get to madison Square garden.  No they didnt wear wooden shoes, or make me waffles ( those would be the belgians).   I narrowed it down to Belgium or the netherlands and they said we are dutch. I asked them how they like it here, want to know what is said

1. Its great but the people aren’t nice
2. I like sitting outside but the city is too dirty not like rotterdam
3. the subways too kloud not like in europe
4. The pizza in Europe is better
5. The dollar isnt so strong anymore, just like canada

I have heard many things but what gave me a clue that these european that I have come into to contact with is that they hold their purses when I come on the train.  They make fun when people speak slang, how our english has degenerated, they make fun of our foreign policy and its in effectiveness. Cna you imagine a dutch person making fun of american foreign policy?

Why do I say this? because no one country has a clean slate, maybe tibet but its not considered a country just a state after china liberated the tibetan people from a crushing theocracy? Did everyone forget the savagery of Dutch Colonialism and Imperialism? have you forgotten the abuses of the French in Algeria or Indochine? europe has become the bleeding heart of teh world. I wonder how many of you know what happens to muslims or turks in Europe!!!!

Im not about to sing god bless America. I am patiently waiting , not for a track to explode on but, for American to realize why the world at one point was so in love with our country, it would be nice for all of us to realize that why the world still love us, because of our heart  because of our work ethic, because we at any point can aspire to a greatness unknown to the world. Not by our foreign policy of B52 bombers, or bunker bombs but by the way we view the human spirit, freedom, the open road.

If 1 more tourist says the word ghetto blaster in any sense of the world I will rob you and take your nikes!!!! this aint a game son
